Technical Advice News from Computer Network Consultants, LLC.
If you ever had a VPN connection created under Windows 7 you may notice that on some of those connections you lose your ability to surf the internet over your local area connection. This is due to a checked setting under the advanced networking properties of your VPN connect, and can be easily corrected.
Right click on your VPN connection and go to Properties.Once there, select the Networking Tab. (Figure 1.)Select your TCPIP (probably IPv4) item, and select the Properties button. On the next screen, select your Advanced button. (Figure 2.)Now remove the check mark next to "Use default gateway on remote network". (Figure 3.)Apply, save changes, etc.
Now the next time you connect to your VPN, you'll still have local internet access as well.

It is expected to be an active hurricane season and we must remain vigilant, especially given the oil spill in the Gulf, Mayor Landrieu said. I encourage residents to take this opportunity to sign up to receive text messages that will provide accurate information in real time during an emergency. The LTC believes that this is an excellent idea and are in support of this initiative and wished to pass this on to our members and the community.
